Unsettling Wealth, Renewing Relations

An exploration into European Wealth Narratives in collaboration with Gesturing Towards Decolonial Futures and Terra Adentro.

The Work

A two-phase body of work bringing a decolonial lens to wealth and the inner and structural work it asks of those who hold it.

Phase 01 – Towards Decolonizing Wealth (2024) developed a theoretical and systemic foundation, mapping the colonial architecture of European wealth accumulation — from the historical logics of extraction and dispossession to the psychological and emotional patterns that keep those logics invisible and intact. The work drew on research and sustained dialogue with wealth holders, Indigenous leaders, and academics across Brazil, Canada, Europe, and the US. Read the report here.

Phase 02 – Unsettling Wealth, Renewing Relations (2025) moved this foundation into practice through seven pedagogical interventions designed to accompany wealth holders and stewards in real processes of reflection and decision-making — addressing the psychology of inheritance, the logics of protection and distancing, the inner capacities needed for genuine transformation, and decision-making under complexity. The set of pedalogical interventions can be found here in report form. The visuals below link through to each one separately.

Together, the two phases move from analysis to accompaniment: surfacing the structures and patterns that shape inherited wealth, then offering practices and pedagogies for the relational, decisional, and inner work of unsettling them.
